​Sean Morrell is a Manchester-based indie artist creating what he describes as indie hippie music: upbeat, honest, and shaped by Northern roots. Born in Hull, Yorkshire, Sean grew up surrounded by the sound of noughties UK indie rock. Bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Wombats played a huge role in shaping his taste and songwriting style.

 

Music became a central part of his life early on. After attending his first Glastonbury Festival in 2009, Sean became deeply inspired by live music and the culture around it. He began writing songs as a teenager, blending guitar-led indie with reflective lyrics drawn from real experiences. That balance between energy and emotion continues to define his sound today.

 

Sean has established himself as a rising independent artist, building a growing catalogue of releases while developing a distinctive live presence with a full band.

 

Sean began performing at just 15 years old, starting with solo acoustic sets across Hull. During this period, he played at respected local venues, including the legendary Adelphi Club. Alongside performing, he spent six years DJing at Hull’s iconic Spiders Nightclub, an experience that strongly influenced his understanding of crowds, rhythm, and indie club culture.

Sean's most recent release, Tinted Eyes EP, saw him develop the post-punk indie rock sound of his October 2025 release, Intoxicated EP, to indie pop with a new synth keyboard accompaniment, with synth melodies driving the hooks in singles My Dealer (Loves Me), Yellow and Blue, and Natalia, continuing the great legacy of indie club tunes to come out of Manchester.
